Vintage Plaid Tilt Back Chair

So here is the before.  Yes, there is a back on the floor next to the chair (already recovered).  Don't you just want to cringe when you see green velvet?  Hehe.

Now usually I would repaint the woodwork white, but this little chair looked perfect as is.  Just a covering of tan and white plaid upholstery fabric that I picked up for $1 on the weekend and I'm in love ....

And what makes this chair unique is that the back of the chair has a screw on either side and when you lean back, it tilts backwards slightly.  I've seen so many around, but I just can't remember the correct name to call it.

Can anyone help me out here with the correct name please?

Again, before and after ...

  4. Love what you did with the chair. I have an antique dining room table with six chairs that you have inspired me to tackle and try and redo. Thanks!
