I finally have my DIY creative mojo back. I'm not sure where it went, but I'm happy it's back.
So I thought I'd share all the things I've been working on the past few days.
I decided to use the left over trim from our new door frame to trim the bottom of our kitchen cabinets. I have been wanting to do this for such a long time, but I've never installed a trim before so I sort of procrastinated. Now I want to do every room!
Here is how the kitchen looked before ...
And here it is with the trim. I did all the measurements yesterday, then cut, primed and painted the strips. In the evening I attached them with Liquid Nails and caulked all the seams. See how the new trim is a brilliant white compared to the cabinets? Well I have also been wanting to add some trim or beading to the cabinets for a while so figure now is the time so I can paint it all the same bright fresh white colour.
So last night I did some kitchen Googling and found this...
A new kitchen is not in our budget so I have to work with what we have, and I knew I could create a similar effect using MDF and maybe some trim.
So this morning I started cutting MDF into strips and attaching it to the bottom of the cupboards to create a wood panel effect. This will be painted with the same brilliant white as the trim. I'm going to start at the bottom and work my way up the cabinets. Our Antique White USA walls are also crying out for a coat of Hogs Bristle. Add that to the list.
I have also be promising to paint my son's room for months, so this morning I grabbed my British Paints One Coat and painted the top half of the walls Hogs Bristle Half. I'll also be adding white board and batten to the bottom half of the wall the same as my daughter's room.
The past few nights I have also been painting the side tables I purchased on the weekend that will be going in the sun room. They were originally a dark shade of brown and I have been having trouble getting the white to cover, so today I added a coat of primer (which is thicker) over the top and will try painting them again. I probably should have primed first, I know. Never mind.
And in between all the above I've been trying to sort out stuff in the garage.
This is typical me. Jumping from one project to the next, leaving one unfinished and returning to it later. My creativity thrives on variety. I really do have my creative mojo back and I'm loving being busy. :)
