Farmhouse Style Home Office

I recently stripped back my white sliding french doors to their natural woodgrain. I love the contrast they provide to an otherwise very white lounge/dining room.

And behind those doors is my newly renovated farmhouse style home office. (And our cat, lol.)

I just finished repainting the walls in Dulux Limed White. It is a gorgeous shade of white that looks like a taupe/stone sort of colour.

I also just made this new office sign from a plank of old wood and a printed stencil.

This is what you used to see. Besides stripping the doors, I removed the curtains and old paling curtain hangers.

I usually keep these sliding doors closed, but with such a cosy new farmhouse style office and beautiful contrasting woodgrain french doors, I think they will be staying open more often.

White Dining Room Sideboard

While I was "de-blueing", my paintbrush landed on my sideboard ... again!
Do you remember I added some blue to make it blue and white?

DIY Farmhouse Style Lamp

I've had this lamp in my living room for years. I have covered the shade a number of times, and now decided to give it a bit of an updated farmhouse look.

So I mixed up some brown chalk paint and gave the base 2 coats.

And added a new shade I bought from Target.

And I have a new farmhouse style lamp for a total of $10. Way less than buying something similar.

Farmhouse Style Display Cabinet

When I caught the "blue bug", my display cabinet got off easy, with just the inner background receiving a coat of light blue paint. But with the bug now gone, the blue had to go too.

Little White Drop Front Secretary

In January, I was bitten by the "blue bug". Not an actual bug, just an obsession with the colour blue. Hence, a lot of stuff got painted blue, including my entryway drop front secretary.

Thankful, Grateful, Blessed

As we go into Spring here in Australia, it feels like I'm coming out of a Winter DIY hibernation. I have been crazily doing lots of stuff around the house, which I'll share with you shortly. But in the meantime, here is a little sign I whipped up a few days ago.

It's one of those quotes you want to live your life by, and for your children to practice also. Sometimes we forget how blessed we truely are to have loving families, good health, a roof over our heads, money to pay bills and buy food to eat. I love this little reminder.

For this sign I reused an old photo frame, removing the glass and replacing the background with canvas drop cloth.  The wording was a free printable I got from Raquel Dorsey's website.  Thank you Raquel! I simply printed off the wording on a sheet of A4 white paper and stuck it to the centre of my canvas.

Happy Spring everyone!
Julie :)
