Shabby Numbered Nesting Tables
I've had these nesting tables for a while in the garage, but never got around to doing anything with them, until now. I'm sure I have a "before" photo somewhere ..... Imagine if you will dark stain on all of them and that's it.
They are original old vintage tables and I had planned to sell them, but now ..... :) They were a bit fragile and 2 legs needed a bit of glue, but otherwise in excellent condition for their age.
They were leaking tannin like no tomorrow so I had to coat them first with Stop Stain, then 3 coats of white chalk paint.
Then I printed off the number stencils on my computer and cut them out.
I decreased the size of the numbers to match the decreasing sizes of the tables.
Then I mixed up some grey acrylic paint and using a sponge brush, stencilled on the numbers.
Then a good sand and distress. Followed by a good coat of furniture wax. I love the way it brings out all the curves and corners of the legs.
Yep, they're a keeper. :)

I love nesting tables but can never find them! The distressing brought out the detail and I think the idea of decreasing the size of the numbers was genius! Thanks for stopping for a visit and leaving such sweet words about the elastic cushion cover. G'day!

ReplyDeleteThese tables are really beautiful. Ever since I saw the ones Cheri (from I am Momma, Hear me Roar) re-did, I have wanted to scour all the local consignment shops to find some nesting tables. Yours are fabulous. (and could easily be paired with other decoration themes/palettes.)
