Simple Cotton Stem Wreath

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty quiet, you know, the whole don't go out unless you need to. We did venture to Bunnings for some more shelves for the garage. We're hoping to have it looking more organised soon.

Last night I decided to have a go at making a cotton stem wreath. It was one of the those projects that's been on my list for what feels like forever. Surprisingly it didn't take long at all. I was able to put it together whilst watching I'm a Celebrity and with the help of my daughter (aka my new photographic assistant).  As I found out, she actually has a great eye for photos. I usually take about 100, or so it feels, whereas she got them all in the first go. So I told her she's hired! 😊

I purchased these cotton stems off eBay a while ago and was displaying them in a vase. But they never seemed to sit right. So, I grabbed them for this project.

Next, I needed a wreath. I had 2 wreaths I used at Christmas that I had put together by simply inserting some berries and sprigs and attaching a bow with some wire, so I quickly disassembled one of these.

Besides the stems and the wreath, I only needed some twine to tie the stems on.

All I did was bend the stems in a circular shape, and wrapped the long part of the stem around my wreath.  Then I spread out my cotton balls to make the wreath look full and a bit more balanced.

Then I grabbed a length of twine.

And tied my stems at various intervals to secure the cotton balls in place.

And that was it. All up this project probably took me about 20 minutes and cost nothing.  I think the 2 stems originally cost me $22 on eBay and the wreath was around $5 from Kmart a few years ago.

I've always wanted a cotton wreath and I'm super excited with how it turned out and how easy it was to make.

Don't forget to PIN for later...

Are there projects you have been wanting to do but keep putting off? Now might be the time. 😊
