Starting Off the New Year with a Clean Slate

I traditionally term Boxing Day as my day to box all my Christmas decorations. Some may call this early, but I don't. The reason for this is that I start putting together my Christmas home in late October/early November so I have time to create some new projects and tweak everything before photographing my final home tour post in early December. So by the time 26 December rolls around, I'm really to dismantle everything.

This year was no exception, however it took a few days. I don't know why, but I seem to have had a lot more to put away. Which means maybe I bought/made a lot more this year. Who knows. We did have to buy some more shelving for the garage to put it all! I'm still pleading innocent. 😁

So now I have a clean slate in the living and dining rooms. I thought I might miss all the festive decor, but I love how simple and minimalistic our house looks now. It makes our home feel so much bigger, which is great considering we have a very small house!

Honestly, I don't have many plans for the new year yet. But don't worry, I'm sure creativity will kick in soon.

I do however have a few small purchases I look forward to sharing with you shortly.

When do you take down your decorations?

  1. Can't wait to follow along and see what you're up to this year, Julie! Reading how you had to add more shelving gave me the giggles because we had to the same thing. I felt like I was using all my old stuff but the boxes told a different story :) I hope your holiday season was a blessed one and 2021 holds all good things for you, CoCo

    1. Hi CoCo, I vaguely remember purchasing a few more trees. Damn Ikea. Lol. I really enjoyed your recent post on 13 Self Discovery Books and have added a few to my reading list. Thanks so much! Wishing you a wonderful new year also! Julie

    1. Hi Diana, I was a bit over constantly finding glitter in unusual places! I'm still vacuuming it out of the carpet. Lol. Maybe I'll aim for a glitter free display next year. ;) Wishing you a wonderful new year also. Best wishes, Julie
