CHRISTMAS DAY TABLE SETTING

Happy Christmas Friends!

This year we decided to cancel our usual family get-together at our house due to the rise in numbers of Covid cases. We wanted to keep the grandparents safe and not risk potentially spreading the virus to loved ones.

As such, it was just my husband and myself, our two children and my brother.

I decided to do a very simple but elegant table setting.

A wooden charger and white plates. Simple glassware and pre-printed napkins. Our DIY gold bon bond.

And gold tableware.

I used a gold fabric runner, topped with my bottlebrush tree centrepiece. Then a scattering of pinecones and pine branches. And some star shaped orange scented candles.

Setting the scene was my large winter reindeer print and a snowy green garland on our chandelier.

We still cooked the traditional ham and lamb roasts with baked vegetables and prawns.

The ham was amazing! And we have plenty left for days to come.

For dessert I made a trifle with layers of jam rolls, double thick custard, strawberry jelly, thick cream, peaches, strawberries and blueberries. Then drizzled passionfruit pulp and almond slices.

Yes, it was delicious!

Instead of the usual large pavlova, my daughter made mini pavlovas topped with thick cream, double thick custard, blueberries, strawberries and almond slices.

And yes, they were delicious too!

It was sad not seeing the rest of our relatives but we'll catch up with them when it is safer to do so.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day!

Best wishes,

Julie
